Adventures In Unreadable Labels: The Squidgy Blue Episode

So Ruthy is away for a few months and, to amuse me... or perhaps her... she has left behind a mysterious package of random "treats" acquired from the mysterious "foreign" aisle of the supper market.

Most of these little bundles have lables with a lower percentage of english than I'm used to... but none-the-less I have been told to sample them and report here what I discover.
The Mysterious Red Box of ADVENTURE!

So, with clear instructions presented to me, what can I do but follow them... so today I'll be trying out these things:
The English says Ramune gummy flavored candy
Description:
Right, if I didn't know better I'd be guessing these were some sort of cleaning product, possibly dishwasher tablets for fizzing the food off plates.
Or maybe its some sort of powder that adds fizz to soda?
Either way the packet is super clean and blue... no visible depiction of the sweet inside as far as I can see.

Expectation:
I'm expecting fizzy blue sweets.
The packet says gummy's (not Gummi's mind you, because that's a trade mark!,) which is odd as I'm really picturing something more like an imperial mint... but blue.
Taste wise, I'm really not sure, but if I had to wager, I'd guess something strong and sharp... "sweets" can be a bit of a misnomer on some Japanese confectionery I'm told, so, maybe something floral... like fabric softener.
Oh dear... hope I'm wrong on this.

First Contact:
Okay I've torn it open... oh, interesting... the contents are individually wrapped.
The radiant glow may have been the afternoon sun or the magic getting out.
The dishwasher tablet analogy gets a little stronger.
Please let that be a soda bottle and not a bottle of detergent!
Okay, the outer packet, once opened, contained a scent... it's soft and faint, but it's clearly made it out of these little prewrapped and well sealed things... so that's... troubling.
The aroma is... Hmmm... weird... familiar too... it's, um... almost like some sort of hand soap, but not cloying at all, and actually pleasant.
It's a bit like something plantlike... but not floral... sort of like something LIKE Aloe Vera might smell.. I mean it doesn't smell like Aloe Vera, but it has the kind of smell you might get from the goo inside some sort of plant.
Maybe it's the packaging influencing me, but, man... it does smell blue!
Okay, lets bust one of these open.

Second Contact:
Inside the little wrapper I found this.
Behold the... um... what ever this is.
The "gummy" is about as round as a NZ 20 cent coin, and at it's thickest it's about 5mm thick.
The edges are rounded and the sweet is squishy and soft... sort of like those peach jelly sweets.
It has a powdery texture on the outside.
I finally figured out the smell I smelled before! It was sort of like the green ice-cream in gumdrop ice-cream... but opening it up it's different, there is a medicinal edge to it... almost a hint of lemon.
No turning back now... time for a bite

Taste Time:
Okay, biting in its defiantly a soft jube/gummy texture.
So much shinier inside than out... but aren't we all?
It's definitely all the things I smelled and more... but it's not a strong taste... very subtle.
If I lick it it's lemony, as I chew it its kinda gum-drop-ice-cream-y, and the aftertaste is faint but kinda like a really soft and comfortable fabric softener.
All and all... actually super tasty!
There are about 20 in the bag and I think I will nibble away at them over the afternoon!

Summary:
Subtle, fresh, lemony, sweet.
Would totally eat these again!

Further research:
So I looked up Ramune on Wikipedia and it echos the little English that is on the packet, its a Japanese Soda.
The original flavor is lemon-lime, so I guess that might be what these are, but I think the jellification (not my word, science's) adds that gumdrop scent that makes it's way into the flavor... but as there are 36 flavors, maybe it's some sort of combo?
Anyway, yum!

"really soft and comfortable fabric softener."

Yea I also use my mouth as a fabric softener delivery device... it's just so much more comforting
