Tourist trap: A lovely looking camp site with brilliant blue skies near the sea, that, when a tent is placed upon it summons a torrential down pour and mighty winds.
Commonly found in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Heh, yeah, we survived the night cramped into a small ball at the centre of our little tent, as the weather came down in buckets through the night.
Amusingly when we climbed out of our little haven the sun was back in the blue and new fools were being drawn into the trap once more.
Flexing squished mussels after our night of being in as small a foot print as possible, I made my way to the showers.
This made it all okay in a flash, the water pressure was so strong I was nearly ejected from the cubicle!
In mere moments rivers of searing joy pummelled my spine back to how it should be.
Ahhhhhh!
In a much better frame of mind, I helped get our little tent dry, (didn’t take much with the sun beaming in the heavens,) packed, and we set off to our first essential stop of the day.
The Cadbury chocolate factory is wreathed in the rich, warm and thick air of hot buttery chocolate. It feels like you could drink the air in massive gulps.
We headed inside and we overjoyed to find that even with out a booking we got there early enough to get into the first tour!
We were shown the past of this institution, and given a nice little chocolate sampler!
We even pocketed some of the roasted cacao beans, which are certainly something of an experience.
And after watching a real chocolate waterfall(!) we headed out feeling privy to the inner secrets of the chocolate trade!
(Random Scott Fact: I loved the old chocolate wrappers, and think they should defiantly return to that design.)
Now with me behind the wheel we tottered out of Dunedin, destination Timaru!
But we are in full blown tourist mode, (I believe it was the lavish activities of Dunedin,) so we had to squeeze in one more activity for the day.
ROCKS!
(I really thought the capitals and exclamation mark would sell it…)
We stopped of and checked out some extraordinary dinosaur egg like formations on the beach.. and then so did every other tourist in the area.
Back to the car!
Our day finished of with us finding a quiet little motor inn, and me trying to build a cocktail as we munched on some superb stirfry Ruthie built.
And then glorious, dry, not shaking in the wind, BED!
