Hitting The Road

Well, to settle the argument as to how long it takes to travel from Hamilton to Welly, the answer is “a jolly long time!”
Well, to be fair, not that long really. The two of us taking turns got us safe and sound to our hotel in around seven and a half hours, and there is nothing like sitting on your but for the lions share of a day to really wear you out!

Denizens of the road beware, Scott has the wheel

We had a damn nice jaunt on the roads, smooth sailing through every season and what seamed like a million different environments, with the desert road being particularly alien and pretty.

Speaking of alien things, we just had to check out the local UFO once we got to our landing zone!

All checked in and driven by grumbling bellies we took to the streets to see what we could find to sustain us.
Footing it about failed to yield any results, mostly due to it being Boxing Day and every one pouring out of the capital for beechier locations.
So we instead popped back to our little hotel room and dialled up some room service, in the mean time we made our selves right at home.

the room, the food, the joy

And that was that… May not sound like much but it took a lot out of s both.
We are now reclining on the hotel bed, watching Wallace and gromit on the tube, plotting tomorrow’s endeavours.

And that’s the first update from on the road I guess… Scott and Ruth have indeed started to head south.

Peace!

Credits roll, Curtains Lift... Places People!

Right, straight into it I guess...
This is the start of the magical adventures of "Me" and "Her" as we trot about our awesome little lives.

What can you expect to find here?
Nothing too mystical, or kooky, but mostly fads and crazes we are rocked by, such as Ruth's theatrical pursuits and miraculous trade me finds, and My design predilections and current dalliance with supper quick and yummy cooking (with as few ingredients as possible.)
Also, as the name would suggest, we are gearing up for a tour of "The Island Below!" so we thought we best document that, so you will have something to point at and mock, (quite possibly one of us (read: ME) falling of the bottom of the world!)

So on that note...
Fad #1: Ruth and Scott's preparation for getting lost in, (very tame,) wild places.

We're going camping!
As we are merrily doodling round the South island in a very short space of time, we thought we better get in some practice just in case we find the want (or need) to camp under the stars! (And by that i mean bundled in sleeping bags inside a tent with little torches holding back the night and monsters that live in it.)

Too that end we are off to Thames to get in some camping!
I, my self, have not had the pleasure of this since i was a wee small buck toothed child tripping over tent ropes on family vacations to Papamoa! I'm thrilled!

So, mad as it may seem, we decided to make sure we new how to "russle up some grits on th' ol' camp stove."
CORN FRITTERS!
Corn Fritters may take an awesome experience and bump it up to a deliciously aawesome experience... OK, I'll grant you I'm easily amused, but check out these chunky golden delights sizzling away!

But I think this picture best sums up our culinary endeavours on that day... Perfect, golden, crispy, sizzling... =]_

So, we tested our little cooker, and our ability to amuse ourselves... what could go wrong!
